Wu Lei, also known as Wu Yicheng, was one of the most famous Chinese military strategists during the Qing dynasty. He was born in Jiangsu province in 1784 and died in 1859.
In 1822, Wu Lei was appointed as the commander-in-chief of the Qing army in Nanjing, which was at that time under siege by the Xinhai rebels. Despite facing fierce resistance from the rebels, Wu Lei was able to successfully lead his troops to victory and capture the city of Nanjing.
